This one was great! One of the showtime ones I read, and re-read several times. Perfectly creepy and definitely had me double-checking all the cupboards in the house for a little while.

Definitely one of the meliorate books of the serial.

And information technology made me wish that I had never opened that cabinet, never reached under the sink, and never found the spongy... thing.

Because now information technology was too late.

Too late for us all.

Considering at present it was too late.

Too late for u.s. all.

This volume is severely creepy. I was creeped out by it as a child and I however am upon this re-reading.

Kat and her niggling brother Daniel move to a new house. In that location, they notice something under the kitchen sink. Something that looks similar an onetime, dry brown sponge. But they soon notice that it is warm. And pulsing. And has beady lilliputian eyes. And people start getting hurt - their dad falls off a ladder, Daniel's friend steps on a blast, etc.

It turns out that the sponge is a Grool - a bad luck amuse that brings pain and misery to whoever "owns" it. Withal, you cannot give away the Grool (or throw it abroad) or yous will die in 24 hours. And fifty-fifty though they try their hardest to destroy it (running over it with their bikes, throwing information technology in the garbage disposal, burying it in the lawn) the Grool always snaps back. Can they ever get this evil thing out of their lives?
...

Dark, creepy, sinister - this is i of the scarier Goosebumps novels (fifty-fifty though the premise sounds ridiculous). I would put it right up there with the Living Dummy Subset in scariness levels.

P.Due south. The dog, a cocker spaniel, is named Killer.

P.P.S. R.L. Stine is always creating kids with unique and adult tastes. Hither, we have Kat, who likes lasagna, really sour garlic pickles, and mocha-flake water ice cream.

This was another Goosebumps book that was released in the U.K. effectually the aforementioned fourth dimension as the TV episode, I always instantly think of that version first.

It'southward a fun playful entry in this series, you can tell Stine loves he's 1950's 'B Movies'.
Surprisingly a story near an evil sponge like 'Grool' is highly entertaining. Feeding from people's bad luck is such a swell concept.

What I like near this book is that it is very creative. At first from looking at the cover I idea the book was really about something like the bogeyman. It ends upwardly to be a evil sponge that has a animalism for evil. I recommend this book for anyone that likes horror books. Information technology is very suspenseful and short to read. It makes the volume fun and enjoyable. Also the book has a really good claw to get y'all in and likewise the goosebumps series are also really expert overall!

A super quick installation in the never-catastrophe Goosebumps serial. It wasn't particularly well-crafted or even very scary; the protagonist was boilerplate and the plot was middling.

Unfortunately the book then falls on many other aspects: a lot of the events seem to be recycled from previous Goosebumps, and then much that in the beginning chapter I was starting to wonder if I had picked up Welcome to Dead Firm by fault. The adults ignoring completely the children are back equally usual, but that kind of behaviour has to be accepted: stories where children fight monsters would rarely exist possible otherwise. The classic try at getting rid of the inanimate object, so it will be able to somehow observe its way back, is present twice. In general the characters aren't very interesting.
I don't know how to react to the ending. I office of me wants to like because it was hinted on in the outset half of the book, but the rest of me hates it for how giddy it was.
Overall, if there hadn't been so much recycled material the book would accept been solid, because the monster'south story is fun, simply equally it is I can't rate information technology more than mediocre.

I felt so bad for Kat because no thing what she did or tried, this thing continued to thrive. And the mode I imagined this sponge really grossed me out. Really, at that place are quite a few disgusting scenes in this book. And of course, the ending was some other shocking moment!

Another thing I really enjoyed about this was the sibling relationship. Although there was the expected bickering and competition, overall these 2 were really close and truly cared nearly each other. I thought it was so sugariness how Daniel goes out of his style to research their problem and is so worried about his sister. Very refreshing.

This series is just and then absurd.
